Allocation of funding for the Pompeii restoration project for the period 2014-2020

The European Commission approved on 12 April 2017 the allocation of almost €50 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to the continuation of the renovation and preservation works on Pompeii's archaeological site.

The EU started supporting renovation works in Pompeii in the 2000-2006 financial period, and adopted a 'major project', worth €105 million, for the period 2007-2013. This decision allows the project to be completed with funds from the 2014-2020 period.
