The sixth meeting of the Steering Committee in the context of the Facility for Refugees in Turkey was held on 31 March 2017.

There was a discussion on the progress achieved and the latest projects to support refugees. The meeting was chaired by the European Commission and was also attended by representatives of Turkey and the EU member states.

The EU Facility for Refugees in Turkey was set up in 2015 in response to the European Council's call for significant additional funding to support refugees in the country. It provides a joint coordination mechanism, designed to ensure that the needs of refugees and host communities are addressed in a comprehensive and coordinated manner.

The support seeks to improve conditions for refugees in Turkey as part of the EU's comprehensive approach to addressing the refugee crisis inside and outside the EU. The first annual report on the Facility was published on 2 March 2017.
