International Women’s Day 2017: Gender Equality – a European export

The 8 March 2017 was International Women's Day.

The European Commission marked the occasion with the publication of the 2017 Report on equality between women and men in the EU, which showed that EU legislation, guidelines, actions and funding possibilities were supporting noticeable but uneven progress in EU Member States.

The report published provided an overview of the main EU policy and legal developments in gender equality during the previous year, as well as examples of policies and actions in Member States. The 2017 Gender Equality report showed that women still faced challenges in many different areas.
