Peru: Commission approves EUR 1.8m package to support general elections

On the 21 December 2000, the European Commission approved a package of activities to support the Peruvian general elections, scheduled for 8 April 2001.

The package was worth €1,749,000 and included an EU Electoral Observation Mission (EOM) as well as financial support to the Ombudsman Office (€ 200,000) and two civil society organisations: "Transparencia" (€ 295,000) and "Consejo por la Paz" (€ 85,000).
