Remarks by Vice-President Dombrovskis at the informal ECOFIN press conference

On the 22 and 23 April 2016, the ECOFIN Council Gathered to deal with a number of work streams related to both making our economy perform better and completing the Economic and Monetary Union.

They also had in-depth discussions on the fight against money laundering, tax evasion and tax avoidance – subjects that are critical for the legitimacy of national and EU politics.

The Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis made a speech at the informal ECOFIN press conference on 22 April 2016. In his speech, he outlined the progress that the European Union need to do to complete the Banking Union. He also insured that in the context of Panama papers, Ministers showed strong and unanimous commitment to lead the fight against tax evasion and tax avoidance.
