Euro area unemployment at 9.6% [EU28 at 8.2%] in December 2016

The Eurozone seasonally-adjusted unemployment was 9.6% in December 2016, down from 9.7% in the previous month and down from 10.5% in December 2015. This was by then the lowest rate recorded in the euro area since May 2009.

The EU28 unemployment rate was 8.2% in December 2016, stable compared to the previous month and down from 9.0% in December 2015. It remained the lowest rate recorded in the EU28 since February 2009.
