On March 2001, Chris Patten, European Commissioner for external relations went to Guatemala for the San José-EU Ministerial meeting. After this meeting, he made a speech. In this one, he insured that the European Union remained firmly committed to maintaining and deepening the historic political and economic links that we have long enjoyed with Central America, both on a regional and on a bilateral basis. He reminded also that the European Union want to take part in the integration prossess of the region helping countries to find agreement. |
