Moldova's President met on 7 February 2017 with NATO Deputy Secretary General and both took a part at a joint press conference.

The Moldovan president warned NATO that closer ties between with the organisation could undermine the country's neutrality and threaten its security. He went on to say that plans for a liaison office of the Alliance in Moldova's capital city would be of no benefit to the majority of the country's citizens.
