Remarks by Federica Mogherini following the meeting with Mr Fayez Mustafa al-Sarraj, Chairman of the Presidency Council and Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord of Libya

On the 2 February 2017, Federica Mogherini met Mr Fayez Mustafa al-Sarraj, Chairman of the Presidency Council and Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord of Libya. During this meeting, they discussed the role of the European Union in the peace process in Lybia and the cooperation on migration issues.

In her remarks, she reminded that the European Union supported the Government of National Accord, since the very beginning and was fully committed both here and on the ground to work with you for the benefit of all Libyans when it came to security. She also reminded that O they have a good cooperation on migration based on the work they did in particular for the training of the Libyan coastguards and navy with [EUNAVFOR MED] Operation Sophia.
