Part-time employment opportunities for women in the public sector in Turkey

In January 2015, the Turkish government announced a series of measures to support employment of mothers in the public sector by allowing part-time employment until the child starts primary school. While the proposal addresses childcare barrier to female employment, it is flawed in its emphasis on existing gender roles and subsequent social discrimination.
