Improvement of the maternity/paternity/parental leave schemes in Poland

The ESPN Flash Reports are produced by the European Social Policy Network (ESPN) established in 2014 to provide the European Commission with independent information, analysis and expertise on social policies. The topics presented in the Flash Reports are identified by ESPN experts in the light of significant developments in their countries, or in some cases suggested by the Commission.

On 24th July 2015, the Polish Parliament adopted the amendment to the Labour Code making the rules on maternity/ paternity/ parental leave clearer and more flexible, and making it easier for both parents to share leave and to combine it with part-time employment. The new solutions will be effective from January 2016.
