On 13 December 2016, the European Commission announcd that Ukraine was conducting intense and unprecedented reforms across its economy and political system, whilst revitalising its democratic institutions. The European Union continued to fully back Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders as well as disapproving and unrecognising the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation. Moreover, the EU also continued to support the diplomatic efforts to find a lasting peaceful solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine through the complete putting into force of the Minsk Agreements. |
