European Commission adopts rules to strengthen regulation of commodities markets

On 1 December 2016, the European Commission took important steps to strengthen the regulation of commodities markets and stop price speculation. It also made sure that firms active on these markets are regulated appropriately.

In particular, the Commission was adopting regulatory standards that would define parameters for competent authorities to determine "position limits".
