European Parliament supports the conclusion of the EU-U.S. data protection ‘Umbrella Agreement’

The European Parliament's plenary session broadly backed on 1 December 2016 the EU-US Umbrella Agreement on the protection of personal data for law enforcement purposes. The Commissioner for Justice welcomed the outcome of the vote.

The deal ensures binding data protection standards for data exchanged by police and law enforcement authorities across the Atlantic.
