The European Parliament's legal affairs committee adopted on 29 November 2016 its negotiating position as regards a draft proposal on cross-border portability of copyright-protected online content services.

The rules enable EU citizens subscribing to services that give access to online music, games, films or sporting events, to enjoy this content while abroad in another member states.

The rapporteur was given a mandate to negotiate with the Council of the European Union, which had already set out its position in May 2016.
