Statement by the spokesperson on the latest developments in Yemen

The 48 hour ceasefire brokered by Secretary of State John Kerry in Yemen, on the 21 November 2016, although fragile due to widespread violations by all sides, was an initial step in the right direction.

The European Union pledged its full support to the ongoing efforts to resume the UN-led peace negotiations and remained ready to contribute to a negotiated settlement, starting with providing assistance to capacity building for the De-escalation and Coordination Committee and the local De-escalation Committees.
