An informal agreement on the European Union's money market funds regulation was announced on 16 November 2016 between the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union, following lengthy negotiations.

The Commission had first adopted its proposal in September 2013. The Parliament's economic and monetary affairs committee adopted its position in March 2015, while the Council agreed on its negotiating position in June 2016.
