Keynote speech – 2016 Summit on the Future of Europe – Harvard University

On 14 November 2014, the European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs Pierre Moscovici gave the keynote speech to a conference 2016 Summit on the Future of Europe at Harvard University.

He addressed the audience with a clear message about how to overcome the challenges Europe was facing by constructing a more political Europe, with a stronger euro area at its centre.

He noted the main issues that, according to him, had triggered the raise of Euroscepticism and the expansion of populism across the EU whilst proposing ways to re-engage with the European citizenry and to improve the functioning of the EU in different ways.
