The European Parliament's budget committee reversed on 28 September 2016 all the cuts proposed by the Council of the European Union to the draft 2017 EU budget to meet the needs of the migration crisis and slow economic growth. Members of the committee decided to endorse a boost in funding to fight youth unemployment and increased spending on research and infrastructure projects. The parliament was scheduled to vote on the proposed budget in plenary session on 26 October 2016. The draft budget was proposed in June by the European Commission. The Council formally set out its position in September. |
