Statement on the decision of an Egyptian Court to freeze the assets of Human rights defenders

On the 17 September 2016, the European Union released a statement on the decision of an Egyptian Court to freeze the assets of a number of Human rights defenders organisations, which play a key role in the democratic development of the country. The decision is not just in dispute with the international human rights standards, but also with the Egypt’s commitments stated in the EU-Egypt Association Agreement.
