The European Commission released a statement on 20 September 2016 on the air strikes against the United Nations / Syrian Red Crescent humanitarian aid convoy in Aleppo, Syria.

As a member of the International Syria Support Group, the European Union called on every stakeholder to refrain from any attack and respect fully the cessation of hostilities and commit to a political transition in Syria in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolution 2254.

The UN announced some days later that it planned to resume Syria aid deliveries, following the incident.
