MEPs’ priorities for safeguarding endangered species

The European Parliament's plenary session approved on 15 September 2016 a resolution calling for the European Union to help curbing demand for wildlife species, as trafficking had become the fourth larget black market.

The resolution set out the Parliament's priorities for the 17th Conference of Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), which the EU attended for the first time as a party.
