Parliament votes down Maltese nominee to the European Court of Auditors

The European Parliament's plenary session rejected on 13 September 2016 Malta's nominee for the European Court of Auditors, Mr Leo Brincat. This nominee had previously been approved by the parliament's budegtary control commitee. The parliament had already rejected another Maltese nominee in April.

The parliament decided to endorse Portugal's nominee for the Court, and the renewal of the mandate of the Cypriot member.

The final decision on the appointments are taken by the Council of the European Union, upon consultation of the parliament.
