On the 23 July 2016, the European Commissioner for Humanitarian aid and Crisis management, Christos Stylianides, announced a new humanitarian aid projects worth €104 million during his visit to Baghdad. The new projects are intended to help those affected by the conflict in Iraq and will be provided to humanitarian organisations such as UN agencies, Non-Governmental-Organisations (NGOs) and international organisations. The funding is a part of an overall EU aid package of €194 million, which had been announced on the 20 July 2016 by the European Commission at the International Pledging Conference in Support of Iraq, in Washington D.C. |
