On 18 July 2016 the Council of the European Union adopted new rules which will extend and simplify the existing plant scheme, as well as help to fight plant pests and diseases through better surveillance and early eradication of outbreaks of new pests. The agreement had been reached with the European Parliament in December 2015 and had been approved by Coreper in May 2016. |
