Mergers: Commission approves acquisition of Arianespace by ASL, subject to conditions

On the 20 July 2016, the European Commission approved under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of Arianespace and Airbus. However, this approval is conditional on the implementation of the commitments offered by both companies, such as applying firewalls to prevent information flows or putting measures restricting employees' mobility between the companies.

The transaction had been notified to the European Commission on the 8 January 2016 and in February 2016, the in-depth investigation to assess the proposed takeover had been opened. The Commission had mainly concerned if the potential flows of sensitive information between the companies could harm the competition.
