Agriculture and Fisheries Council, 18 July 2016

A meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council was held on 18 July 2016. The agenda included the following topics:

+ Presentation by the Slovak presidency of the European Union of its work programme regarding agriculture and fisheries;

+ Update on the latest developments in the main agricultural sectors, including the decision to support the third package of measures put forward by the European Commission to help farmers from the dairy and livestock sectors;

+ Discussion on the issue of international free trade agreements and the impact of trade negotiations with third countries on European agriculture;

+ Briefing on the outcome of the review of the CAP greening provisions;

+ Exchange of views on the actions proposed by the European Commission, concerning mainly delegated and implementing acts, and reiterated the importance of a genuine simplification that reduces the administrative burden for both farmers and public administrations.
