Further information: The main findings of this annual report was mainly the improving performance of the innovation sector when compared with Japan and the United States. Sweden remained as the innovation leader and Latvia became the fastest growing innovator. Regional innovative hubs were detected in moderate innovator countries. The EU's innovation performance was expected to improve over the following two years. The European Commission released on 14 July 2016 its annual results of the European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS), together with the Regional Innovation Scoreboard and the Innobarometer. The annual EIS provides a comparative assessment of the research and innovation performance of the member states and selected third countries. The RIS is a regional extension of the Scoreboard, assessing the innovation performance of European regions. The Innobarometer reveals trends and attitudes in businesses' innovation-related activities. |
