Agriculture and Fisheries Council, 13 July 2015

A meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council took place on 13 July 2015. The ministers discussed the following topics:

+ Presentation by the presidency of the Council of the European Union of its work programme regarding agriculture and fisheries;

+ Briefing by the European Commission on a proposal for a regulation on the possibility for the member states to restrict or prohibit the use of genetically modified food and feed on their territory;

+ Briefing on agricultural market developments, in particular on the impact the import ban on EU agricultural products imposed by Russia since August 2014.

Some delegations also pointed out that the future of the sugar sector should also be the focus of the EU's attention.
