The European Parliament's plenary session backed on 9 June 2016 a non-binding resolution arguing that the surge in low-cost EU imports of rail supplies from non-EU countries was skewing competitive conditions for EU suppliers. The resolution adds that much of this surge was due to strong political and financial support in exporters' home countries and calls on the European Commission to craft a 'coherent EU trade strategy, which ensures compliance with the principle of reciprocity'. |
