Bulgaria's president Rosen Plevneliev addressed the European Parliament's plenary session on 8 June 2016. During his speech, he defended that the cure of the European Union's ills is more solidarity, more rule of law, more synergies and more integration. Mr Plevneliev stated that 'integration is the only weapon we have to achieve peace, security and human development', adding that 'erecting borders is a tempting, yet temporary and not sustainable solution. The Bulgarian head of state also condemned what he called Russia's efforts to destabilise the EU and erode trust in the European project. |
