The European Parliament's civil liberties committee held a debate on 25 April 2016 regarding the terrorist attacks hitting Brussels on 22 March 2016 with Belgian ministers for security and the interior, Jan Jambon, and justice, Koen Greens.

Members of the committee concluded that the European Union needed a coordinated approach to fight terrorism and that it is essential that member states improve information exchange in the area of security.

The debate took place on the same day as the Maelbeek underground station reopened to the public, following the bomb blast in March.
