Parliament backs four out of five nominees to the European Court of Auditors

The European Parliament's plenary session approved on 13 April 2016 the nominations to the European Court of Auditors (ECA) from Slovenia, Latvia, Czech Republic and Slovakia, but rejected that from Poland, on the basis of recommendations from the budgetary control committee. The Maltese nominee, Anthony Abela, had previously withdrawn his candidature in response to the committee's negative opinion.

The final decision on appointments to the ECA was set to be taken by the Council of the European Union.
