Fighting poverty: help disadvantaged families to cut heating bills, say MEPs

The European Parliament's plenary session approved a resolution on 14 April 2016 calling for member states to declare a moratorium on winter heating disconnections, so that no household can be cut off from energy in the cold.

MEPs also urged for more support for poor families and further investment in energy efficiency projects to reduce utility bills, in order to step up the fight against poverty in the European Union by reducing household energy costs.
