On 4 April 2016, the European Commission presented its Nuclear Illustrative Programme (PINC), for the first time since Fukushima in 2011.

The report focused on the investments related to post-Fukushima safety upgrades and to the safe operation of existing facilities. In addition, it highlighted the estimated financing needs related to nuclear power plants' decommissioning and to the management of radioactive waste and spent fuel.

Aslo, the Commission presented a recommendation to Member States concerning the application of Article 103 of the Euratom Treaty.
