The European Commission launched on 7 March 2016 a public consultation on draft provisions exempting investment aid for ports and airports from prior scrutiny by the European Commission under EU state aid rules.

The consultation on extending the General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER) was scheduled to remain open until 30 May 2016.
