EU to lift Argentine import restrictions

Argentina's minister for agriculture Ricardo Buryaile confirmed on 20 January 2016 that the European Union had decided to lift its restricition on animal product exports from the northern region of the country.

In 2001, for the first time in 60 years, new cases of foot-and-mouth diseases (FMD) were detected in Argentina. The country's beef was then banned by more than 60 countries, including the United States and Canada.
