The European Parliament's plenary session approved on 17 December 2015 a resolution calling for member states to apply the European Union's eight-point code on arms exports more rigorously, particularly with the changed security environment in the EU's neighbourhood. MEPs stressed that these trade flows were not in the EU's direct security interests and national political and economic considerations could not override decision-making on export licences. |
