Serbia received the visit of different members of the US government in November 2015, in a move which was seen by many as an effort by the United States to counter Russia's influence in the region as tensions remained high between the two countries.

US vice-president Joe Biden attended a meeting of countries in the Western Balkans region which took place in Croatia on 25 November, together with European Council president Donald Tusk. Previously, also US secretary of state John Kerry and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg had been in the region.
