Media reported in November 2015 that the United Kingdom's government had decided to cancel its £1 billion (around €1.4 billion) competition for carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology.

The decision was made just six months before it was due to be awarded, breaking a key pledge in the Conservative party manifesto.
