In his letter to Donald Tusk on the 10 November 2015, United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron stressed the importance of Eurozone and non-Eurozone members being on an equal footing. Iain Begg argues that this request is problematic. Among the issues raised, he writes that it would be a mistake to think that the interests of the nine member states that are out of the Eurozone are closely aligned and that the numerical balance will remain the same in the long term. As a consequence, the UK may find that support from the non-euro countries is more brittle than Cameron expects. |
