Press Release: Migration debate: the real divide

The European Parliament held a debate in plenary on 27 October 2015 concerning the migration challenges facing the European Union. Many MEPs argued that the real divide on the issue was between those who want to use the EU to solve these challenges and those who want to use them to dissolve the EU.

Most deplored EU member states’ slowness to deliver on their pledges to pay for more help for refugees, and more manpower to process them at EU borders. European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker noted that the €2.3 bn shortfall was the same as it had been two months before.
