The European Parliament amended the EU budget proposal for 2016 in a plenary vote on 28 October 2015.

The chamber added extra funds for handling the flow of refugees inside and outside the European Union. It also topped up resources to fund help create jobs for young people, enhance the EU’s competitiveness and settle its unpaid bills. Parliament reversed all the cuts, including those on migration lines, made by the Council of the European Union.

Three weeks of conciliation talks between the EP and the Council would follow this vote, towards reaching a compromise on the annual budget.
