Press Release: Pay gap between men and women: MEPs call for binding measures to close it

The European Parliament approved in plenary on 8 October 2015 a non-binding resolution urging the European Commission to table new legislation 'providing for more effective means of supervising the implementation and enforcement in member states' of laws on equal opportunities and treatment.

MEPs considered that despite the existence of the 2006 Directive on equality between mean women in the labour market, differences in their pay persisted and were even growing.
