The European Parliament's budget committee approved on 13 October 2015 a political resolution demanding more funds to handle the migration and refugee crisis, help to get young people into jobs and the offset of the cuts to the European Union's research and transport networks programmes.

The committe had already reversed on an earlier stage all the cuts made by the Council of the European Union to the European Commission's initial proposal.

The EP was expected to vote in plenary on the resolution on 28 October, which would be followed by three weeks of conciliation talks with the Council.
