Germany's Defense Minister Ursula von de Leyen denied on 28 September 2015 that she had plagiarised a doctoral dissertation that she had written 25 years before.
The minister asked for her thesis to be reviewed by an independent panel.

The statement was released during an interview, following allegations appeared on the Internet by an online platform which examines academic works to check for instances of plagiarism.
