EurActiv published a feature on 27 July 2015 regarding a disagreement between EU authorities and other OECD member states over phasing out funding to export coal technology to developing nations.

The European Commission urges tougher rules on when subsidies, known as coal export credits, can be used. Other countries, like Japan, are offering resistance. However, reports suggested pressure was high for an agreement on restricting these subsidies to be found before further climate negotiations in Paris, in December 2015.
