Statement: Report by President Donald Tusk to the European Parliament on the June European Council and the situation in Greece

The European Council president Donald Tusk took part on 8 July 2015 in the plenary session of the European Parliament (EP).

This session welcomed Luxembourg as its rotating presidency started in July 2015. It was also an opportunity to discuss the outcome of the European Council which took place in June 2015 and to assess the situation in Greece.

The Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras also addressed the EP, in the context of the negotiations between his country and its creditors towards a new bailout programme. A Eurogroup meeting had taken place on the previous day regarding the same topic, followed by a Eurozone summit.
