The members of the European Parliament (MEPs) considered on 7 July 2015 in a non-binding resolution that integrated ticketing for travel across the borders of the European Union using more than one mode of transport would increase the use of public transport. They called on EU member states to improve and connect timetables and on providers to develop multimodal cross-border 'journey planners'. They stated their intention to call for legislation by 2020 if there was no progress. MEPs also called again for a Charter of passenger rights covering all modes of transport to be presented by the Commission by the end of 2017. |
