National Front MEP under investigation for Islam comments

Media sources revealed in June 2015 that Aymeric Chauprade, a French member of the European Parliament had become subject of a legal inquiry, after calling for the 'de-Islamification on France' following the terrorist attacks in Paris in January 2015.

This statement had already resulted in Mr Chauprade being relieved of his duties as leader of the National Front delegation in the European Parliament.

In 2013, Front National leader Marine Le Pen was lifted her imminuity status by the European Parliament so she could be prosecuted over anti-Muslim comment.
